Yvonne Kanazawa Wade has served as the Assistant Director of Athletics at the College of Southern Nevada since 2021. Prior to her time at CSN, she served as a Division 1 Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at the University of Nevada Las Vegas since 2007. During her time as the Head Coach, she has been named Mountain West Coach of the Year on 3 occasions, won several MWC Team championships and sent numerous individuals on her team to the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Olympic Trials and the Olympic Game over the years. While competing on the national scale, her teams have maintained All-Academic honors and impressive team GPAs and graduation success rates. As an athlete, Yvonne ran for the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO where she was a multiple year Big Eight Conference champion and NCAA All-American athlete and was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2014. Wade, who is the daughter of a Japanese mother and Jamaican father, represented Japan as a member of its national team at the Summer Olympics in 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney). She was an eight-time Japanese national champion, winning the 100m hurdles six consecutive years (1995-2000) and then twice more in 2002 and 2003. She held the Japanese record in the 100 meter hurdles until recently. She continues to serve in higher education and athletics in order to promote excellence and leadership to the youth in our community and provide a pathway for success.
