Yvonne Wade has served as the Director of Athletics at the College of Southern Nevada since July 2023. Before joining CSN, she spent 14 years as the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), leading the program since 2007. As the Head Coach, she was a three-time Mountain West Coach of the Year, guided her teams to multiple Mountain West Conference championships, and helped numerous athletes reach the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Olympic Trials, and Olympic Games. Under her leadership, her teams not only competed at the highest level but also maintained All-Academic honors, impressive team GPAs, and strong graduation success rates.
Beyond athletics, Yvonne is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She is actively involved in WISE (Women in Sports and Events) Las Vegas, where she has served on the philanthropy committee and currently co-chairs the mentorship committee. She also sits on the board of Las Vegas for Athletes as the Director of Athletic Programs and Outreach. This 501(c)(3) organization raises awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes and works to provide free heart screenings for youth across Southern Nevada.
As an athlete, Yvonne was a standout at the University of Colorado, where she was a multi-year Big Eight Conference champion and NCAA All-American. In 2014, she was inducted into the University of Colorado Hall of Fame. She proudly represented Japan at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics and was an eight-time Japanese national champion in the 100m hurdles, winning six consecutive titles from 1995 to 2000 and adding two more in 2002 and 2003.
With a passion for mentorship, leadership, and youth development, Yvonne continues to support organizations that empower women and young athletes, providing them with the resources, guidance, and opportunities to succeed both in sports, careers and in life.
