Dr. Hamid R. Ekbia is University Professor at Syracuse University, where he is affiliated with the Falk College of Sports. He studies the social philosophy and political economy of AI and computing. His contributions to these topics include Artificial Dreams: The Quest for Non-Biological Intelligence (Cambridge University Press, 2008), Heteromation and Other Stories of Computing and Capitalism (MIT Press, 2017), Big Data Is Not a Monolith (MIT Press, 2016), Universal Access and Its Asymmetries: The Untold Story of the Last 200 Years (MIT Press 2023), and a forthcoming book Let Us Calculate: Humanity and the Project of AI (Columbia University Press).
