David Holt is the 38th Mayor of Oklahoma City and the current President of the United States Conference of Mayors. Holt was first elected OKC Mayor in 2018 with 78 percent of the vote. He was re-elected in 2022 with the second-most votes for a mayoral candidate in city history. Mayor Holt is a member of the Osage Nation and is Oklahoma City’s first Native American mayor. TIME recently named Holt one of its “100 Next” most influential people in the world. Mayor Holt also serves as Dean of the Oklahoma City University School of Law.
In historic ways, Mayor Holt has leveraged sports to elevate his city. He negotiated an agreement to retain the Thunder of the NBA for another 30 years in the nation’s 42nd-largest market, then secured 71 percent voter approval of a billion-dollar publicly-owned arena to close the deal. Behind the scenes for six years, he pursued whitewater and softball events from the Los Angeles Olympics, and in 2024, LA28 announced it was their plan to host seven events in OKC in 2028. Mayor Holt also secured voter support for a new professional soccer stadium and cut the ribbon on the world’s largest softball stadium, which has secured the Women’s College World Series in OKC through 2035.
Beyond sports, Mayor Holt also secured 72 percent voter approval for an ambitious $1.1 billion quality-of-life package known as MAPS 4, which will fund 16 projects meeting human and neighborhood needs.
Mayor Holt previously served in the Oklahoma Senate for eight years and also held staff positions in numerous federal, state and local offices, including the White House of President George W. Bush. Mayor Holt received his B.A. from The George Washington University and his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law. His wife Rachel is the President & CEO of the United Way of Central Oklahoma and they reside in OKC with their two children, George and Margaret.
