Speaker Bio
Dr. Brooke Conway Kleven, PT, DPT, PhD received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science specializing in Neuroscience from the University of San Francisco. She then completed both her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from UNLV with her dissertation assessing the neuroepidemiology and chronic pathology of repetitive head injuries in professional athletes. Her research evaluated the relationship between biomarkers and subsequent changes in clinical function. She was the 2022 UNLV outstanding doctoral graduate and is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. Brooke is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and NSCA Certified Performance and Sport Scientist, in addition to holding advanced certifications in Functional Dry Needling and Precision Nutrition.
Brooke has developed and managed multiple fitness and physical therapy programs for adult and youth populations, while also volunteering with global health programs to build sustainable healthcare systems in under-resourced countries. As a postdoctoral scholar, she is integrating her clinical and research experiences to assist with the development of the Athletes Brain Health Initiative, a partnership between UNLV, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and the UFC Performance Institute. Brooke is leading this interdisciplinary team to build a data repository and biobank of health and performance indicators for professional and tactical/combat athletes. Outside of work, Brooke competes in martial arts and spends her free time paddle boarding or doing any outdoor activity with her husband, two kids, and dogs.
