Stuart Goldfarb is a Founding Partner at SKI Partners, a new global advisory firm focusing on “operator-first” private equity-owned companies using sports, entertainment, media, and real estate as levers for global business development in both mature and emerging markets. Stuart is also a partner in the Corporate M&A practice group of Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP, a boutique law firm dedicated to entertainment, media, and the arts.
With more than twenty years of experience representing and advising clients, Stuart has focused his practice on the sports, media, and entertainment industries.
Stuart has represented regulatory bodies, leagues, and teams across several sports. Stuart’s clients in soccer have included the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport’s world governing body, and CONCACAF, the governing body for the region comprising North and Central America and the Caribbean, and he has engaged extensively with the United States Soccer Federation and each of the professional and amateur soccer leagues in the US. Additionally, he led legal and business affairs for Pelé.
Stuart has also represented professional sports teams in the United States and internationally, as well as European leagues and teams in connection with their business activities in the United States. Stuart’s practice additionally includes the representation of buyers and sellers of teams, and technology, marketing, commercial and media rights and other businesses (at various stages of development) engaged in the sports marketplace.
Stuart advises clients on all aspects of business, including corporate (acquisitions/dispositions, financings, restructurings and governance), intellectual property (trademark, licensing, media rights), regulatory, employment and litigation matters.
Most recently, Stuart served as lead counsel to the Local Organizing Committee for United States matches of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, hosting in excess of 250,000 fans at matches in a newly constructed 34,000 seat temporary stadium in Nassau County, NY and in existing venues in Texas and Florida. Stuart additionally represented the ICC in connection with the planning and execution of the event in the United States.
