Travis Yang is a seasoned esports leader with over a decade of experience in collegiate and professional esports. As the Director of Esports Competition at Syracuse University, he oversees the six varsity teams, hiring of coaches, and student-athlete recruitment.
Prior to his role at Syracuse, Yang served as the Director of Esports at Wichita State University, where he expanded the program into a nationally recognized force. Under his leadership, Wichita achieved significant milestones, including the introduction of scholarships, buildout of a dedicated varsity facility, and the establishment of a comprehensive esports ecosystem that integrated academic and competitive opportunities.
Yang began his collegiate esports career as the Assistant Esports Coach at Ashland University, contributing to the development of one of the nation's pioneering varsity esports programs. He then became the inaugural Head Esports Coach at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, where he built the first esports program for both the Texas A&M System and the city of San Antonio. His coaching achievements include being named the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Valorant Coach of the Year in 2021 and CS:GO Coach of the Year in 2020.
A graduate of the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, Yang holds a Master of Education in Sport Management from Wichita State University. He also served as a member of the NACE Board of Directors, contributing to the advancement of collegiate esports nationwide.
