Joe Mazzara serves as the Director of Esports at Wichita State University, where he helped found Kansas’ first varsity esports program at a Division I institution in 2019. With a Master’s Degree in Sport Management and a background in media arts, Joe has led the program to national recognition for competition while fostering interdisciplinary research and student-led initiatives. His work extends beyond campus through partnerships with local school districts and contributions to regional esports development. As a former player, coach, assistant director, and now director of a collegiate program, he offers a prismatic view into the collegiate competition theater. Joe was recently nominated for the National Association of Collegiate Esports 'Director of the Year' Award and has served on multiple subcommittees for appellate review and conduct reform in an effort to foster the growth of collegiate and community spaces.
